Treehouse Proposal in Atlanta, Georgia Airbnb
Brooke and Trey have always had a heart for travel. I actually first met her in Banff in 2018. She’s from Alabama and I’m from Texas so while we hit it off, I wasn’t sure if we would ever run into each other again.
The following year, she reached out and told me she booked a long weekend in a treehouse Airbnb for her and her boyfriend Trey and she would love for me to document it. I was pumped! I mean talk about a dream location. I had no idea until an hour before when he sent me a DM on Instagram that it would turn into her engagement shoot.
When I arrived on the property, it was a seemingly normal neighborhood. I followed a path to the backyard and when the treehouse came into view, my heart skipped a beat. I knew it would be magical, but it was hard to contain my excitement knowing she was about to get engaged here too! Trey was so nervous that he totally ditched the spot we had picked out to get down on one knee but it was honestly so perfect and natural, I’m so happy he followed his gut. Brooke was totally surprised and we popped open a bottle of champagne to celebrate!
This was a pivotal moment in my career for many reasons, but especially because two people who were mostly strangers felt like instant friends. It’s not that I hadn’t experienced this and worked with awesome people before, but this just felt different. They insisted I come to dinner with them (even though I was NOT dressed for it! lol) and it really felt like we had known each other for years. I felt honored to be included in the celebration.
At this moment I knew that this was what it’s about. This was what would sustain me in my career - working with people who care about me as much as I care about them. That’s when you capture the best images, when people let down their guard. You surpass a pretty photo and you get to the roots. I hope you can feel the joy on their faces. We had such a great time and it was an evening I’ll never forget.
