The theme of Kelsey and Keegan's wedding day outside of Austin at The Arlo seemed to be LIGHT. The Arlo is an amazing venue with incredible natural light.
The September weather was scorching that day but despite the heat, we had so much fun and it felt like "play." They were one of the sweetest and down-for-anything couples I’ve had the pleasure of working with. They did a first look and the entire day was ahead of schedule which allowed for more space for creativity.
Custom Design Elements
Kelsey is a designer so of course her paper suite was unique and totally matched the vibes of The Arlo! The Save The Date element featured a hand-drawn cocktail glass resting on the bottom of a shoe. I instantly began scheming, what if we recreated that? I knew it might take some trial and error, so I gave them a head's up of my idea earlier on in the day and to my surprise, they were down. Through tons of laughter we created an iconic photo that they have printed in their home as well as in her parents' house! That's always such a nice surprise.
Sentimental Song
Keegan is also an artist in his own right as he's the lead singer of the band Vinyl Theater. One of the most unforgettable moments of the day was him surprising the audience with a song he wrote for Kelsey at the start of their reception at The Arlo. There wasn't a dry eye in the room and he received a standing ovation. I always feel extra lucky to witness so much love.
Tight Knit Family
A key part of the day that I reflect on is how tight knit all of their families are and how much fun they have together. They tore up the dance floor at The Arlo (with the help of Hype Rhythm) and I was able to capture some fun images! If you’re looking for a photographer who gets in the middle of the dance floor for all the angles, I’m your girl.
